At Nyth y Deryn, we know that strong relationships between home and school are just as important as those we build with our learners. Clear, warm and consistent communication helps us work together as a team around each child, and we have a dedicated team committed to making sure that happens. Important updates are shared via email or text, and further information can always be found here on our school website.
Keeping your contact details up to date with the school is really important to us — it means we can reach you quickly and reassure you promptly should anything happen during the day. We also love welcoming parents and carers into school throughout the year for a range of events, and we always look forward to seeing familiar faces.
Because we know that connection and celebration matter, home contacts receive a text message at the end of each day letting them know how many points their child has earned — a small, daily way of sharing in their successes. At the end of each week, our pastoral lead will phone home to talk through the week together: celebrating positives, gently addressing any concerns, and listening to how things have felt from your side too. These calls aren't just updates — they're a genuine two-way conversation, and we value the chance to hear your feedback and work through anything together.
We want every parent and carer to feel able to reach out, whether to celebrate progress, ask a question, or share a worry — no concern is ever too small. In keeping with the relational, trauma-informed approach we model for our learners every day, we ask that all communication between home and school remains calm, patient and respectful. Just as we help our children learn to communicate with kindness and understanding, we hope to build that same spirit together as a school community.
